RICHMOND, Va. – Senior
Bryan Beegle set a meet record in the 1,500-meter run on Friday night with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark as the Shippensburg men's outdoor track and field squad posted 22 PSAC qualifying performances on the first night of the Fred Hardy Invitational.
Beegle won the event with a time of 3:49.11 while sophomore
Matt Gillette finished second with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 3:51.92. Junior
Stephen Schelander placed third in 3:56.03.
Senior
Ethan Rissell paced a group of four Raiders that qualified in the 10K with a time of 32:32.82. Senior
Brandon Boyer was one of two conference qualifiers in the 5K with a second-place time of 15:02.98 and senior
Jake Sitler posted a great 3K steeplechase time of 9:32.14.
Sophomore
Marcus Line and junior
Kyle Raguz excelled in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 54.56 and 55.58.
In the field, senior
Tappah Dinnall took second with a season-best in the shot put and third in the hammer to lead a strong night from the throwers.
The Fred Hardy Invitational concludes with several events on Saturday.
