COMPLETE RESULTS
Selinsgrove, Pa. (Mar. 26, 2011) - The Crusader Track and Field team was in action at the Jim Taylor Invitational, hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday. In just over freezing temperatures the men and women were able to turn in some great performances.
Leading the way on the men's side was junior
Brian Nerney (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic). In his first meet of the season, Nerney hit the ECAC Championship qualifying mark in the high jump; clearing 1.93m / 6'4", placing second. He was also able to reach the MAC qualifying mark in the long jump with his seventh place effort.
Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill) set three school records in the throws on Saturday, breaking the shot, discus and hammer records, while
Colin Donovan (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was able to establish a new 400m hurdle record.
On the women's side,
Erin Stone (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs),
Jess Weiss (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberst) and Chynelle Washington all hit MAC qualifying marks in the 200m dash, with all three eclipsing the previous school record. Washington and Weiss also hit the MAC standard in the 100m dash.
The throwers were paced by
Katie Wimberg's (Galloway, NJ/Sacred Heart) MAC qualifying throw in the hammer. Wimberg bested her previous best by over 20' and the school record by over 10'.
Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) conituned her stellar freshman campaign, hitting MAC qualifying marks in the hammer as well as the shot put and classmate
Jazmyn Vega (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) also reached the qualifying standard in the shot put.
The Danny Curan Invitational, hosted by Widener University is up next for the Crusaders. The meet starts at 3pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday.
