SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Led by a pair of “bagel” efforts by freshman
Lauren Coggins, 26th-ranked Slippery Rock University rolled to a 9-0 women's tennis win Tuesday afternoon over visiting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion University.
Coggins and junior
Dunja Drmac recorded an 8-0 victory in the No. 2 doubles match before Coggins claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No, 5 singles match.
Sophomores
Elisabeth Yetiskul and
Janelle Krantz also won their No. 3 and No. 4 singles match by “double-bagel” (6-0, 6-0) scores to round out the highlights of the match.
Tuesday's win in the PSAC-West opener for both teams improved The Rock's season record to 10-3.
Clarion suffered its fifth straight loss and saw its season record fall to 2-10.
SRU returns to action Saturday with a match at West Virginia State University, followed the next day by a dual at the University of Charleston.
