SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Saturday's NCAA Division II women's lacrosse game between Slippery Rock University and Shepherd University will be part of the 2011 Lax-4-Life initiative that is taking place throughout all divisions of women's lacrosse this season.

The first draw for the game is set for noon at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The Lax-4-Life initiative was originated two years ago in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to raise support for teen suicide awareness and prevention. After two years of growth, the initiative has formed into a non-profit organization in 2011 and will see more than 60 NCAA women's lacrosse programs in all divisions participate.

Slippery Rock has taken part in the event for each of the past three seasons by purchasing special t-shirts to wear during the pregame warmups. Both Shepherd and SRU will wear their shirts before Saturday's game.

The Rock also took orders from the campus community this year for t-shirts and wristbands to support the cause and flat donations will be accepted from fans throughout Saturday's game.

For the last two years the majority of the donations have gone to the Allyson Rose Green Memorial Foundation, which was created to honor the memory of Allyson Green, who lost her life to a suicide at the age of 15. Green was the younger sister of former West Chester goalie Mary Beth Green.

Over the past two seasons, Lax-4-Life has contributed more than $17,000 to the Allyson Green Foundation and the amount of money raised in 2011 alone already exceeds that figure.
