SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's outdoor track and field team claimed wins in eight separate events at the SRU Tri-Meet Friday night at the Bill Lennox Track.
SRU welcomed California (Pa.) and Thiel for the tri-meet, which was not scored.
The Rock's throwers led the way with wins in three of the four throwing events.
Chris Warning took the top spot in the discus with a throw of 48.80 meters, a shade off his PSAC and NCAA provisional qualifying mark from earlier this season.
Joseph Kelly claimed the win in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.57 meters and
Billy Martin earned the win in the shot put with a toss of 11.78 meters.
Jason Jamieson and
Ethan Isoldi swept the middle-distance races for SRU, with Jamieson winning the 800-meter run in a relaxed time of 2:01.18 and Isoldi crossing the line first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:09.81.
Brady Wert claimed a win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.11 and
Morgan Elliott took home the win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:53.55.
Shawn Vanderbrook won the long jump with a leap of 6.40 meters to top off the winning performances from The Rock.
Slippery Rock will remain home next weekend when it hosts the SRU Invitational Saturday, April 9 at the Bill Lennox Track.
