MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track and field squad won six events and posted several solid performances on Saturday afternoon from the Millersville Metrics at the Biemesderfer.
Freshman
Megan Rhyner had a great afternoon – thriving in her two events. Individually she placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:14.54 that was just short of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. She also posted a marvelous split on the 4x400-meter relay squad that posted a season best despite missing some of its regulars.
Sophomore
Caitlin Stuetz continues to run very well this season. She won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.00 seconds, finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and anchored the aforementioned 4x400-meter relay.
Senior
Erica Hess continued her solid training in the 400 meters with another event title. Her time of 56.43 seconds was mere hundredths of a second short of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Sophomore
Megan Breski posted her season-best in the pole vault, winning the event by clearing 11 feet 3 ¾ inches. She was one of three Raiders to clear the conference qualifying standard.
Senior
Katie Frey won the 5K with a time of 18:17.53 and also satisfied the conference qualifying standard in the 3K with a time of 10:35.40.
Freshman
Patty Reis has transitioned well into the steeplechase – she won Saturday's event with a time of 11:32.78 that is almost a full minute faster than the conference qualifying standards.
Senior
Stephanie Harrison once again won the shot put and placed third in the discus with throws that satisfied the PSAC qualifying standards.
The multis will wrap up tomorrow. SU will compete in the Bucknell Distance Carnival on Friday.
