ALLIANCE, Ohio –
Allegheny women's track and field continued its march to the postseason with a solid showing at the non-scoring John Homon Open hosted by the University of Mount Union. The Gators were paced by several strong performances in the field, including individual champions Lauren Butler and Deedee Evans.

Although the competitors in the javelin had to contend with a grass runway, the two-time All-American Butler finished atop the leader board with a toss of 120'9.25”. Butler also finished fourth overall in the shot put (39'7.25”) and second in the first flight of the discus (101'4.25”).

Evans maintained her command of the triple jump, winning the event on Saturday in 33'9.25”. She also served as the Gators' top performer in the 200-meter dash (27.52), edging out fellow rookie Dominque Billingslea (27.62) while finishing slightly ahead of freshman Sarah Moss and Emily Norton to secure the team's top finish in the long jump.

Kristen Collins continued her weekly pursuit of a personal record in the hammer, turning the trick while closing third overall with a throw of 135'9”. Allegheny also had decent efforts from Moss, who finished ninth overall in the high jump, and Tova Feinberg, who grabbed second place in the second flight of the shot put.

The Gators' top performance on the track was authored by freshman Sara Mitrano, who also continued a positive progression by finishing fifth overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:57.37. Senior Beth Muller just missed breaking the 60-second barrier en route to fourth overall in the open quarter while Rebecca Lendyak finished just back in the 400m with a sixth-place finish.
