LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg men's outdoor track and field squad dispatched a distance squad to Bucknell on Friday that ran extremely well at the Bison Outdoor Classic from Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium – totaling four unique NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

The 10K was one of Friday's most exciting races down the stretch. Senior Sean Stetler ended up finishing second between Lock Haven's Alex Monroe and Cornell's Drew Hart – but his provisional time of 29:44.64 is a new outdoor PR by almost one full minute.

Considering that Stetler's previous PR was set in a PSAC championship performance last season, this year's edition of the 10K race figures to be an outstanding race at the conference championships in May.

Senior Brandon Boyer, who finished sixth at last year's PSAC meet, posted a time of 31:14.89 that stands as a 20-second improvement upon his outdoor PR.

Sophomore Matt Gillette paced a group of four SU runners that surpassed the PSAC qualifying standard in the 1,500 meters – his provisional mark of 3:49.54 ranked among the best times in the field. Senior Matt Gelety and sophomore Brian Quintrell also posted times under four minutes.

Junior Stephen Schelander thrived in the 5K – posting a provisional mark of 14:28.16 that was 22 seconds faster than his outdoor PR which produced a third-place finish at last year's conference championships. Senior Ethan Rissell crossed the line in 14:48.47 – another solid effort that erased eight seconds off his 5K PR.

Senior Jake Sitler has emerged as an outstanding steeplechase competitor. Sitler ran a provisional qualifying time of 9:19.40 that is four seconds ahead of his PR that was set with a fourth-place finish at last year's PSAC championship meet.
