LEWISBURG, Pa. – Facing competition across all NCAA divisions, Allegheny women's track and field showed mid-season form with two weeks left until the start of championship season. The two-day non-scoring meet was highlighted by a plethora of outstanding individual performances, including several solid efforts from the Blue and Gold.
Rookie
Kristina Martin ran an outdoor-best 17:59.52 to finish seventh in the second section of the 5,000-meter run on Friday night. Senior
Katie Stancik closed ninth in the race with a clip of 18:07.20. In the ultimate distance race,
Kelly Gallagher completed the best 10k of her career with a final time of 38:11.69. Her final clip fell short of an NCAA qualifying mark but resulted in the 29th-best time in the nation this season.
The Gators went into the weekend with a small lineup, but still saw emerging performances from its established stars and emerging talent. All-American
Lauren Butler finished fifth in the second flight of the javelin after throwing a season-best 127'4” while senior
Stephanie Alberico won the first section of the 800m with a time of 2:23.82. Freshman
Deedee Evans also capped Allegheny's weekend after finishing fourth in the first flight of the triple jump with a leap of 32'9”.
