PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore
Matt Gillette posted a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 1,500 meters on Friday night despite tough weather conditions from Princeton University as he represented the Shippensburg men's outdoor track and field team at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Gillette posted a time of 3:48.24 – a full second faster than his season PR achieved last week at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Senior
Bryan Beegle had the league's previous top time of 3:49.11, an effort achieved in March at Richmond's Fred Hardy Invitational.
Entering the weekend, Gillette's time would slot as the fourth fastest in Division II.
Shippensburg will have two contingents compete on Saturday – one at Princeton and the other at East Stroudsburg's All-American Meet.
