BEREA, Ohio –
In a season that has been marked by numerous record-breaking performances, Saturday's headlines were not as overtly outstanding for Allegheny men's track and field at the Baldwin-Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational. However, a plethora of solid mid-season marks proved that the Gators are in prime position for an extended postseason run as the spring slate heads down the stretch.

Senior Chris Marker looked terrific in winning the 5000-meter run. Although the reigning All-American failed to achieve a coveted NCAA qualifying mark, his victory split of 14:48.98 was easily his best race of the season while he hammered the field for a 14-second win. Bobby Over, who has emerged as a key player in Allegheny's NCAC title aspirations, finished third overall in the race with a time of 15:05.72.

The Blue and Gold also received a sensational tandem performance from Taylor Throckmorton and Marc Funderlich in the 400m. Returning to action after being hampered by injury, Throckmorton finished second overall in the race with a time of 49.40. Funderlich continues to hone his skills in the open quarter and finished just back in third place with another sub-50 effort (49.70).

Throckmorton wasn't the only star returning from the IR as Jeramie Parker authored an encouraging performance in the 1500m with a fourth-place finish (4:01.20). Matt Brush (4:07.02) and Pat McLaughlin (4:07.95) also fared well on the individual board and will be part of a large contingent of mid-distance and distance runners expected to collect a bevy of points at next week's conference championships.

Additional highlights included a pair of fifth-place finishes by Mike Vlah and Cameron Day. Vlah turned the trick in the 800m with a clip of 1:56.88 while Day just missed on eclipsing his personal record in the javelin after throwing 167'10”.
