Complete Results

BEREA, Ohio –
Inching closer to the postseason, Allegheny women's track and field landed its first qualifier to the NCAA Championships at the 2011 Baldwin-Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational. Lauren Butler, a two-time All-American in the javelin, authored the championship-qualifying cut with her best performance in the event this year.

The Gator track community had been waiting all spring for Butler to piece together an NCAA qualifying effort. Hoping the chance at an All-American three-peat was inevitable, Butler rejoined the nation's elite with a thunderous performance that resulted in a first-place finish on Saturday at The George Finnie Stadium. Winning with a throw of 138'1”, the junior star vaulted inside the nation's top 10 while setting the stage for another promising postseason run.

Senior Beth Muller finished 10th overall in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, while her clip of 12.50 in the 100m just missed the NCAA provisional cut. Fellow fourth-year runner Stephanie Alberico, who enjoyed a significant progression in the 800m this year, delivered a solid effort in the 400-meter hurdles that resulted in a ninth-place finish (1:10.66).

The Gators other top highlights occurred in the distance events, an area where the program has historically excelled. Katie Stancik (11:38.34) and Kristina Martin (11:43.42) led a commanding 1-2 sweep in the steeplechase while Sara Mitrano (5:05.23) and Kelly Gallagher (5:10.53) closed sixth and 10th, respectively in the 1500m.
