Neely Spence won the 5K and sophomore
Katie Spratford finished fourth on Friday night as the Shippensburg women's outdoor track and field team completed the second day of the 2011 PSAC Championships in seventh place.
Spence finished ahead of Edinboro's Tina Yi by posting a time of 16:53.40 to win her third consecutive outdoor 5K title and her 12th individual conference championship. Spratford (16:59.40) made a late push but could not pass Yi or ESU's Rosie Mascoli.

Lauren Redington qualified fifth for Saturday's finals with a new school record of 47.73 seconds. It is the second straight year that SU has set a new school record in the event at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
Junior
Jessica Yates finished strong on the second and final day of the heptathlon to achieve eighth place with a total of 4,074 points. Her most successful events were the high jump and the 200 on Thursday and the 800 on Friday. Also in the field, Yates placed fifth in the high jump with a new PR after clearing 5 feet 4 ½ inches.
Freshman
Damaris Schrum posted a team-best long jump mark of 16 feet, 4 ¼ inches but it was not enough to rank among the top eight finishers.
Friday Prelims
Senior
Erica Hess and sophomore
Caitlin Stuetz were among the Raiders that produced quality performances on Friday that will help Shippensburg try to leapfrog several teams in the standings on the final day.
Hess posted a season PR and updated NCAA provisional mark in the 400 with a time of 55.21 before qualifying in the 200 with a time of 25.54 seconds. Stuetz qualified in both hurdle events – posting a time of 14.26 in the 100 and 1:01.52 in the 400. She will be joined in the finals of the 100 by freshman
Daniesa Lyles, who qualified in 14.85 seconds.
In the 400, Hess will be joined by senior
Laura Henzy and junior
Lindsay Bingaman. Every woman that ran the 400 posted a time under 60 seconds – a testament to the speed and talent in this year's field.
Junior
Amanda Raudabaugh [2:13.57] led a group of three Raiders that qualified in the 800. She will be joined in Saturday's final by senior
Jamie McCollum [2:15.75] and sophomore
Ashley Fornshell [2:16.98].
Redington (12.37 seconds) and Martin (12.45 seconds) individually qualified for the 100.
