TURLOCK, Cal. – Juniors
Amanda Raudabaugh and
Jamie McCollum ran the 800 meters on a breezy but pleasant Friday evening to represent the Shippensburg University women's outdoor track and field program at the 2011 Division II Outdoor National Championships from California State University Stanislaus.
Raudabaugh ran in a fast heat – with the top four competitors finishing almost four-wide at the line. In fact, the top four finishers in her heat all finished within 15 one-hundredths of a second of each other. Raudabaugh's time of 2:11.03 was the sixth fastest of the evening but was also 11 one-hundredths of a second from being outside of the final field.
McCollum posted a time of 2:14.15 that was not enough to reach the finals. Her season PR of 2:11.37 was recorded at SU's Paul Kaiser Classic last month. She was making her first individual appearance at the national championships.
Raudabaugh will run in the 800-meter finals tomorrow at 10:25 p.m.
Also on Saturday, junior
Neely Spence and sophomore
Katie Spratford will compete in the 5,000 meters at 11:35 p.m. EST.
