Track & Field Programs Bolster Staff with the Addition of Markham Hyde

MEADVILLE, Pa. - Markham Hyde has been named to the Gators' cross country and track and field coaching staffs as announced on Monday by head coach Brent Wilkerson. A 2006 graduate of Utah Valley University, Hyde was a three-time team captain and instrumental in the school's transition as a Junior College to classification as a NCAA Division I institution. During his tenure with the Wolverines, he set school records in the weight throw and the hammer. He also established a state record in the weight throw while attending Davis high school in Kaysville, Utah.

“I am extremely excited to have Markham join my staff here at Allegheny,” exclaimed Wilkerson. “Markham brings with him many years of experience and passion for the throws events. I knew that having a large & successful group of throwers this year was going to need a lot of individual attention this year and Markham will certainly be able to fill that role. During his interview process I was impressed with his view of the sport and how progressive he is with his training methods. This year is looking like many of our throwers will be top contenders in the conference and I will be counting on Markham to take our squad to the next level.”

After serving as a student assistant at Utah Valley a year following his graduation, Hyde officially began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where he earned his Masters of Education. Joining the Storm coaching staff during the team's first year of Division II competition, Hyde helped the program establish new school records in every throwing event.

In 2007-08, Hyde produced eight scorers at the Utah State Track & Field Championships as a member of the coaching staff at Syracuse high school.

Markham, wife Brittany, and daughter Lynlee reside in Meadville, Pa.
