George Cook won a 5K dual meet at Alvernia Saturday by a large margin, but the Albright College men's cross country team was unable to record a team score due to an untimely injury.
Cook crossed the finish line in 16:27, well ahead of Alvernia's top runner (
Pete MacNamee- 18:19).
The undermanned Lions only had five runners and were knocked out of the team competition when freshman
Brian Bacon had to drop out due to an injury.
Sam Marcotte came in fourth place with a time of 19:03 and freshman
Dave Dupre crossed in 20:36, good for seventh place.
Connor Unger was ninth and nearly caught Alvernia's
Tim Bauer, running him down on the final straightaway before Bauer reacted and held off the attack.
The Lions will compete next Saturday in the Middle Atlantic Conference championships and will hope Bacon can recover, in order for them to score at the meet.
