Annville, Pa. (Dec. 20, 2011) - Thirty-five Alvernia University student-athletes were named to the Middle Atlantic Conferences Fall Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll, which notes academic excellence by student-athletes, is comprised of student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing. Student-athletes are selected from field hockey, football, men's cross country, men's soccer, volleyball, women's cross country and women's soccer.
Featured on the honor roll from Alvernia are NFHCA All-Region selections
Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) who earned First Team, and
Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) who earned Second Team. From Men's Soccer,
Ben Diller (Etters, Pa/Red Land) was named to both the honor roll and the NSCAA All-Region Second Team
Honor Roll honorees and First Team All-Commonwealth selections include, from field hockey, Solley and
Kyle Dillman (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin), and from men's soccer Diller and Kyle Martin (Media, Pa./Penncrest). Landis, along with
Katelyn Gill (State College, Pa./State College) and
Kelsey Gill (State College, Pa./State College) from women's soccer were named to the Second Team All-Commonwealth and the Honor Roll.
Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) from field hockey,
Eric Schweitzer (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico) from cross country and
Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team as well as the Honor Roll.
