Fellenbaum Leads The Way At Kutztown

Kutztown, Pa. (Jan. 13, 2012) - The Alvernia University Women's Track and Field team opened up 2012 at the Kutztown University Collegiate Invitational.  Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) led the way with her first place finish in the pole vault.  Her winning jump of 3.70m currently places her third in the NCAA and would have surpassed the previous NCAA provisional standard. 

Sophomore Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) picked right up where she left off before break and earned a fourth place finish in the weight throw, with a new school record in the event and a fifth place finish in the shot put with a season's best throw.  Sophomore Jazmyn Vega (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) also earned a top ten finish in the shot put with her seventh place finish with a season's best and MAC qualifying mark. 

Freshmen Karlee Kominsky (York, Pa./Northeastern) earned three more MAC qualifiying marks with fifth place finishes in the High Jump and Triple Jump, tying her own school record in the high jump and breaking the school record in the Triple Jump.  She earned her third MAC qualifiying mark in the 55m dash, also breaking the school record with her performance. 

The Crusaders will compete next at the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College on Friday January 20th
