Young Wins Triple Jump At Ursinus

Freshman Brandon Young Wins Triple Jump For Second Straight Meet

Collegeville, Pa. (Jan. 20, 2012) - Freshman Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) continued his winning ways, earning a first place finish in the triple jump at Friday night's Collegeville Indoor Classic, hosted by Ursinus College.  Young also broke his own school record in the long jump, placing second in the event and ran legs on two school-record relays. 

Young and relay members Rondel Parker (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold), Zadren Winns (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and Tyrone McCloud (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) earned a fifth place finish in the 4x200m relay, while Young and McCloud teamed up with Zach Wilson (Newark, De./Caravel Acad.) and Cody Hughes (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Vally) to earn a sixth place finish in the 4x400m relay, also establishing a new Alvernia best. 

Aside from success on the 4x200m relay, Parker also earned a third place finish in the 60m Hurdles and a fifth place finish in the triple jump.  McCloud finished 12th in the 60m dash, while Cody Hughes finished 16th in the 800m Run.

Sophomore Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill), also reset another school record, achieving a new lifetime best in the shot put.

The Crusader Track and Field team will be split next weekend with some athletes competing Friday night at Muhlenberg College and some competing on Saturday at the University of Delaware.
