Collegeville, Pa. (Feb. 10, 2012) - Junior
Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) won the Pole Vault and
Tyrone McCloud (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) finished third in the 200m to lead Alvernia at the Ursinus College Open on Friday afternoon. Fellenbaum posted the win with a jump of 3.45m and McCloud's third place time was 23.15.
On the women's side of the action,
Jazmyn Vega (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) and
Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) finished fifth and sixth respectively in the Shot Put with throws of 10.12m and 9.92m.
Rachel Heisler (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) rounded out the shot put field with a throw of 9.75m, which was good for eighth place.
Erin Verdon (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) placed 15th in the 200m and 11th in the 400m.
For the men's squad, McCloud not only took third in the 200m, but also finished ninth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.24.
Cody Hughes (Bordsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:02.89. The men's 4x200m relay team consisting of McCloud,
Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield),
Zachary Wilson (Newark, De./Caravel) and
Andrew Martin (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) placed third with a time of 1:35.30. Martin also placed third in the Pole Vault, while Young placed fifth in the Triple Jump.
Alvernia returns to action Feb. 17th at the Susquehanna Open.
