Reading, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2012) - Both the Men and Women's Track & Field Team have earned regional rankings as announced by the United States Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday afternoon. The Men's team is ranked 18th, while the women are ranked 21st in the Mid-East Region. This is the first time in program history that the Alvernia squad has cracked the regional rankings.
From the men's squad
Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) is ranked fifth in the Triple Jump with a best jump of 13.71m,
Tyrone McCloud (Lindelwold, NJ/Lindelwold) is ranked sixth in the region in the 60m sprint with his 7.12 mark, and Rondell Parker (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) is also ranked sixth, with an 8.65 mark in the 60m hurdles.
On the women's side, junior
Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) is ranked second in the region in Pole Vault with a best jump of 3.70m. This Pole Vault mark also earns her a fifth place national ranking.
The Crusader Track & Field teams will return to action this weekend with some athletes competing Friday night at Muhlenberg College and some competing on Saturday at the University of Delaware.
