McCloud Wins 200m Dash At West Chester Invitational

West Chester, Pa. (Mar. 24, 2012) - Freshmen Tyrone McCloud (Lindenwold,  NJ/Lindenwold) won the 200m dash and placed fifth in the 100m dash to lead the Crusader men at the Golden Ram Invitational, hosted by West Chester University.  McCloud earned MAC qualifying marks and school records in both sprints.

McCloud also teamed up with classmantes Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield),Indeo Ragsdale (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) and Andrew Martin (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) to place fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 44.04, breaking the school record and narrowly missing the ECAC mark of 43.75.

Martin also broke the school record in Pole Vault, with his second place finish and jump of 4.15m.  Rasgdale placed fifth in both the 110m and 400m hurdles to earn MAC qualifying marks and school records in both events, in 16.56 and 59.08 respectively. Young also set a school record of his own, breaking the mark in the triple jump with his leap of 12.85m, good enough for a fifth place finish.  Young also placed fourth in the long jump, with an outdoor season's best.

Freshman mid-distance runner, Cody Hughes (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) placed tenth in the 800m run in 2:03.60, earning a MAC mark and also resetting the school record in the event.   Freshman Peter MacNamee (Dublin, Pa./Pennridge) ran a lifetime best on the 5000m run, breaking the school record, while Sophomore Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill) started off this season in the hammer throw, breaking his school record from last season.
Kilgore thought that "the men did a very good job today.  We were able to execute fairly well and put up some good marks.  Tyrone ran two nice races in the 100 and 200, Andrew jumped well especially for the weather.  I thought the effort on the track and the field, including the throwers on a very wet circle was a great sign of things to come."

The Crusaders are back in action next weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.   The triple jump, discus, 5k, 10k and mens pole vault will take place on Friday March 30th, with the remainder of the event Saturday March 31st.  Start times are 3pm Friday and 9am Saturday.
