Reading, Pa. (Mar. 26, 2012) - Alvernia junior Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) was named the MAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.  This is the third weekly honor for Fellenbaum after she was named the Athlete of the Week Jan. 16 and Jan 23.

Fellenbaum picked up right where she left off at the end of the indoor season - she won the pole vault at the West Chester Invitational, set a new school record, and reached the ECAC qualifying mark of 3.30m.  Her jump and ECAC mark makes her the first women to reach and ECAC mark during the outdoor season.

Fellenbaum and the Crusaders return to action next weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.  The triple jump, discus, 5k, 10k and mens pole vault will take place on Friday March 30th, with the remainder of the event Saturday March 31st.  Start times are 3pm Friday and 9am Saturday.
