Fellenbaum Wins Again; Breaks Track Record

COMPLETE RESULTS

East Stroudsburg, Pa. (April 21, 2012) - Junior Melissa Fellenbaum (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) remains unbeaten in the Pole Vault during the outdoor season as she claimed top spot at the ESU All American Invitational.  Her jump of 3.54m also set a Eiler-Martin Stadium record to go with the win.

The throwers also had a great overall meet for the Crusaders.  Freshman Rachel Heisler (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) placed third in the hammer throw, finishing first among Division III athletes and breaking the school record in the process with a throw of 38.86m.  Sophomore Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) finished fifth in the same event, placing second amongst Division III athletes.  Her mark of 37.49m also surpassed the old school record.  Searle also added a fifth place finish in the shot put with a season's best throw of 10.39m.  Freshman Hailey Lepori (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) added to the throwers day with a third place finish in the javelin throw.  Her mark of 33.21m tops the school record that she already held and topped all Division III throwers in the event.  Sophomore Jazmyn Vega (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) added two new personal bests, finishing just outside the top ten in hammer with a throw of 31.34 and ninth in the javelin with a mark of 28.80, earning a MAC qualifying mark in the latter.

Freshman Karlee Kominsky (York, Pa./Northeastern) had another good day in the high jump.  She finished fourth in the event, with a jump of 1.62m.  She also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x400m relay that again broke the school record in the event.  Teaming with sophomore Erin Verdon (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional), senior Erin Stone (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) and sophomore Jeanne Knowles, the quartet ran 4:21.64.  Knowles earned a MAC qualifying mark in the 400m dash, with her time of 1:02.16, breaking the school record held by Verdon, whose run in the 400m on Saturday was also below the record mark.  Stone also punched her ticket to MACs in the 800m run with a season's best mark of 2:34.87.   Freshman Olivia Dunzelman (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore) also added a seasons best in the 1500m run.

Coach Kilgore was happy with the women's performances, “I thought the women had a great meet.  They competed and performed really well.  From top to bottom everyone did what they needed to do to continue preparing and sharpening up for MACs.  Myself and the rest of the coaches are really excited about how far we've come and what we think this team and these women are capable of.”

The Crusaders have one more meet to prepare for the MAC Conference Championships and will be back in action Friday 4/27 at the WCU Open hosted by West Chester University.
