Men's 4x100m Relay Hits ECAC Mark At ESU

COMPLETE RESULTS

East Stroudsburg, Pa. (April 21, 2012) - The Crusader Men's Track and Field team had many great performances at the ESU All American Invitational on Saturday.  The freshmen quartet of Tyrone McCloud (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold), Brandon Young (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield), Indeo Ragsdale (Lindenwold, NJ/Lindenwold) and Andrew Martin (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) became the first relay to qualify for ECACs in Crusader history after their sixth place finish in the 4x100m.  Their time of 43.17 shatters their prior school record and currently places them second in the MAC.  McCloud,Young and Ragsdale also teamed with freshman Cody Hughes (Birdsboro, Pa./twin Valley) to earn a sixth place finish in the 4x400m relay, destroying the old school record by just under 10 seconds.

Individually, Martin placed third in the pole vault, improving on his prior school record.  Young earned two top ten finishes in the horizontal jumps, placing seventh in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump.  Both jumps were outdoor bests for Young and both broke school records.  McCloud and Hughes both competed in the 400m dash and each earned MAC qualifying marks, with times of 51.84 and 52.69 respectively.  Ragsdale added a sixth place finish in the 110m hurdles as well.

Senior Brian Nerney (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) added a third place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.90m, and added a lifetime best in the long jump with a jump of 6.14m.  Adding another strong field performance in the field events was sophomore Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill), with his new school record in the discus throw.  His throw of 35.90m, placed him tenth in the event, third amongst Division III athletes.  Emery also added an eighth place finish in the hammer throw, while teammate Josh Streeter (Paoli, Pa./Great Valley) added a tenth place finish in the event.  Sophomore Colin Donovan (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) added new lifetime bests in both the 400m dash and 400m hurdles and freshman Eddie Cadman (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) added a best in the 800m run.

“This was a great complete team effort and performance by the men's team today," noted Coach Kilgore.  "We've had some good performances, but the coaching staff and I feel that this was by far our best overall team performance and really excites us about the rest of the season.  Our men should have a lot of confidence in what we can do heading into MACs.  The men did a nice job on both the field and the track and the 4x1m and 4x4m relays ran great.”

The Crusaders have one more meet to prepare for the MAC Conference Championships and will be back in action Friday 4/27 at the WCU Open hosted by West Chester University.
