Penn Relays Supercenter - Live Coverage

Philadelphia PA - Today kicks off one of the signiature events for Spring Track on the east coast.  The Penn Relays in Philadelphia is the world's oldest and largest relay meet in existence, now in its 118th year.  Roughly 2-3% of all high schools in the country will be at the 3-day track and field extravaganza, which equates to roughly 1,047 schools in total.  That does not include all the college events populated by some of the best collegiate athletes in the country, but it does include the 62 schools that are not from the United States.  The traditional rivalry of USA vs. Jamaica is always in full force on Saturday afternoon, as the rival chants of "U-S-A" and "Ja-mai-ca" fill the stadium to capacity for the premiere events.  However, while the Olympic events draw in the crowds, it is the high school events that excite the masses.  6 finals for each gender, titled "Championships of America," decide who goes home victorious at the end of the meet.

As always, be sure to catch all the action live, right here on MileSplit NY.  We have linked to ThePennRelay's live results, where full meet results will be uploaded as soon as your favorite athlete crosses the finish line.  Also look out for the live webcast, where you can watch all your favorites, live for a small subscription fee.  Also, be sure to tune into NBC on Sunday night to catch all the proffesional relay action.

Of course, the fastest way to stay in the know is to stick around right here, as we will also be providing live updates of the meet all day through our twitter account.  No need to refresh the page, as the updates will keep on streaming in below.  And our "Athlete Shout-out" function makes a solid return.  So if you mention @MileSplitNY , your message will be available for all to see.  Cheer on your favorites, thank your coaches, and experience the meet live.  Also be sure to check us out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/milesplitny for our exclusive content.

If you missed any of our pre-meet coverage, including our previews of both the boys and girls competition, you need to look no further.  Our boys meet preview can be found here, and our girls meet preview can be found here.  Also, if national coverage is more your thing, check out our updates here.  Good luck to all competitors, and enjoy the meet.
