The sprints produced two new state leaders on a beautiful spring weekend. Jada Steward of West Catholic took over the state
lead in the 100 meter dash with an Abington Invitational win of 12.10, with Deme'shia Davis of Central Dauphin East (12.30)
and Amani Nesmith of Swenson (12.34) cracking the top eight as well. Sarah Helgeson of Hempfield (3) was the other new
individual sprint state leader, running 55.68 in the 400 meter dash to win at Shippensburg. Performances 5-8 were all in
the low to mid 57 second range led by a PA#5 57.07 from Megan Lundy of Central York. In the relays, Pennsbury took the
state lead away from Central Bucks West in their head to head contest at the CB West Relays. Pennsbury ran a solid 3:50.68,
while CB West improved to a PA#2 3:54.28. Swenson ran a PA#3 time of 3:55.15 to win at Abington. Indoor 4x200 champions
Pennridge ran a PA#2 time of 48.05 to win the 4x100 meter relay at CB West. Swenson ran a PA#3 time of 48.18 to win at
Abington.
In the distance events, the 4x800 meter relay produced five new top eight performances led by a PA#2 time of 9:20.10 by
Downingtown East at the Great Valley Relays. Garnet Valley ran a PA#3 time of 9:24.01 to lead all girls 4x800 meter relay
times at Shippensburg. The open events were quiet, as some of the top runners either ran relays or were getting ready for
this week's Penn Relays. Maria Seykora moved to PA#2 in the 800 meter run with a Warrior Invite winning time of 2:15.15.
Regan Rome of Dallas ran an impressive 10:45.42 to lead all 3200 meter runners at Shippensburg. Jenna Flickinger of Lower
Dauphin became the 5th girl this season to crack 11 minutes in the event (PA#4 10:58.89).
The field events were highlighted by a strong jump double from Marshay Ryan of Chambersburg. The junior took the state lead
in the long jump (18-6.50) and in the triple jump (39-1.50), giving herself six inch leads in both events. Ahmenah
Richardson of Milton Hershey became the solo state leader in the crowded high jump, clearing 5-7 to win at Shippensburg.
Lauren Lubarski of Hickory joined the big group at 5-6 at her home invite. Virginia LaMacchia of Central Columbia cleared a
PA#3 height of 12 feet to win the pole vault at Lock Haven. In the throws, Jennifer Neider of Hickory closed the gap on
shot put leader Rachel Fatherly of Williamsport in the shot put with a PA#2 throw of 46-5 at the City of Hermitage Invite.
Her teammates Taylor Woods (141-6) and Lauren Lubarski (139-2) became the state's top two discus throwers in the same meet.
Fatherly threw a PA#3 mark of 132-6 at Shippensburg. Olivia Hassler of Bethlehem Catholic threw 139-10 to earn PA#5 honors
in the javelin.
