The Relays
As always, the AAA boys relays will provide some very entertaining racing for the track and field fans in PA. In the 4x100m relay Strath Haven leads the state with a time of 41.81 and will be the team that everyone is gunning for. It should be quite the battle up front with Neshaminy coming in with a 41.90 clocking for the one-lap relay. There is a gap between them and the other teams in the race, but anything can happen on the big day. Cheltenham sits 3rd with a season best of 42.03 while Central Bucks South has a best of 42.04. Stroudsburg could also be in the mix for a top-3 finish with a time of 42.22.

The last event of the day always provides some fantastic racing as team titles and bragging rights are on the line. Swenson boys were hovering all season in the mid-3:20 range but really turned it on at the district meet, running a PA#1 time of 3:16.97 to assert themselves as a favorite to win. There is a team close, however, as Wilson (3) has established a time of 3:17.18 to win their district title. Bensalem, Penn Wood and Pennridge are all close as well with times under the 3:18 barrier.

The 4x800 times may not be as fast as previous years in the state, but that doesn't mean that sparks won't fly when the two-lappers hit the track. Chambersburg leads the way with a time of 7:48.94, but there are a host of teams right on their heels. Bensalem, Pennridge and Cumberland Valley have all cracked the 7:50 mark as well. Spring Ford, Penncrest and Great Valley are also right in the hunt.

The Hurdles and Jumps
There should be some exciting finishes in the hurdle events, as they usually live up to the excitement of their billing every year. There will be a bit of a team rivalry in the 110 as Chris Williams and Wellington Zaza are teammates. They are razor close as well with their season best times only .04 apart. Aaron Willett is lurking in 3rd, but it will take a great race to catch the top-2.

In the 300 Hurdles Ryan Hynes leads the way with a time of 37.23, with the only other runner close being Paul Wahlman with a 37.43 clocking. Wahlman did get the best of Hynes at the district champs, however, so this could be interesting. Also in the mix will be Wellington Zaza, who was 3rd in the district meet behind Wahlman. Note: Eric Futch is not eligible for for the PIAA championships due to an incident at the District 1 Championships.

In the long jump John Landis leads the way with a mark of 23-7.5 but Tyrek Edwards is just a half-inch behind, so both jumpers need to be on their game. Harley LaCroix, John Santangelo and Imani Brown are mere inches away, so anyone could walk away with the title in this event.

A favorite does emerge in the triple jump with Imani Brown having flirted with the 50' mark, going 49-11.50 just a week ago. Brown will be dueling it out with Wellington Zaza however, who is fresh off a district performance of 49-8. The battle for top-3 could get interesting with three other athletes over the 47-foot mark.

The Sprints
The 100m dash with be very exciting with three athletes all .04 seconds apart. Ronnie Gillespie went 10.61 at his district meet to get the edge on Ryan Hynes, who ran 10.65. Langston Northern is also in the mix, having clocked a time of 10.62 on the year. T.J. Elliot is also one to watch for as he posted a great time of 10.69 in his district meet.

Gillespie emerges as a clear favorite in the 200m dash as he is clear above the competition with a clocking of 21.24 at his district meet. Langston Northern will be lurking as he has gone 21.52 on the season as well. Again, T.J. Elliot has posted a quick 21.63 and could likely get quicker at states and sneak a top-spot. Note: Eric Futch is not eligible for for the PIAA championships due to an incident at the District 1 Championships.

In the 400m dash the racing could be tighter than it has been in awhile, as everyone is fairly tightly bunched. Jonathon Stiles leads the pack with a 48.19 clocking and Lindell Swinson has gone 48.21 on the season. There are a host of others under 48.50 that could challenge for a top-3 finish as well.

The Distance Events
With the top 800 meter runner and state record holder not advancing in the event, the race is wide open for a host of talented 800 specialist to take the crown. Wil Bailey leads the way with a 1:53.26 clocking and will be fresh as he won't have a 4x800 to run. Ryun Holder is just back in 1:53.56 and just 0.1 seconds back is Vincent Tonzo who will be fresh as well. Holder won't be fresh as he will have to run all out for Chambersburg in the 4x800, but anything can happen in an 800. Several other runners are lurking with times just over 1:54.

In the 1600m run in could turn into a one-man race against the clock, at least if Magaha has his way. Magaha has the states best time of 4:08.94 and with the 1600m as his only event, the question is just how fast he can go. Is a sub-4:05 in the cards? We will have to wait to see. Jack Huemmler will lead the chase pack as he has a PR of 4:12.79 and there are several others under 4:18 which could make for an interesting finish.

Hibbs is back in form after a state title in cross country and should race very well and get the win. Mac Emery has a time of 9:11.24 and should be in the mix as well. Several others are under 9:20 and should mix it up well in the final mile.
