PA Salute To Seniors: Dylan Mountain - Altoona

What was your most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable race would have to be this year's track and field states where i placed 8th in a very stacked field and ran a new pr of 9:26.18 on a very hot day.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
Last year our team competed at the Nike northeast regional where Wade took fifth and went on to Nike nationals but the rest of our team on strong days struggled to place close enough to the front to have a slight hope at being top 5 as a team.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
I am most proud of the fact that in my senior year I got a medal in cross country, indoor, and outdoor states.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
I would have maybe changed my training in track to suit a 3200 better, but who knows if that would have even had a positive affect on me.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
I was very fortunate in high school with having very few and minor obstacles, but in indoor this year through the beginning of the season I had to sit for a week because I strained my hip flexor.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss all of the friends I've made over the years at meets and all of the memories I've had.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Don't stop having fun with the sport or you won't enjoy it.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?
My coaches in Altoona were very goal oriented people that always cared for their athletes even beyond their careers, which is a great quality to have in a coach and a mentor.

What are your college plans?
I will be running for Lock Haven University next year majoring in secondary education

Shout-Outs?
Shout out to Korey Replogle he's been one of my closest friends since elementary school and I wouldn't have rather battled with anyone else these years whether it's running, arguing, or....... dancing.... we always stuck together and helped each other pull through in tough situations in running and life. Shout out to my family and my girlfriend who has always been at my meets, and lastly to my coaches and teammates for helping me achieve everything I wanted in running by my senior year.
