5/9 - Gwynedd-Mercy dominates league meet

 

Sit back at States and watch a show from Gwynedd-Mercy. They did a dress rehearsal at their League meet and simply dominated Merion Mercy and the rest of the league with a depth in the distances. Their 4x800 ran a nice tune-up for districts, going 9:18.50, without Meghan Bishop. That's great my itself, but Kate Vernon also doubled and won the 800 in 2:13.20 with Kelley McGrathdoubling and getting 3rd in 2:17.70. And Kahki Mealey, who anchored the relay, was 3rd in the 3200 in 11:00.00. Bishop was first in 10:53.50, with St. Basil's Lynn Morelli 2nd in 10:59.30.Bishop also went 4:58.10 in the 1600 with Mealey 2nd in 4:59.10. Tiffany Abney, Merion Mercy, won three events, the 200 in 24.90, the 400 in 56.30, and the 300 Hurdles in 47.50. She also anchored the 4xx400 to a 3:57.20 win. Jordan Teuber, Nazareth Academy, won the Long and Triple Jumps in 17-04 and 36-9-1/2 respectively. Holy Ghost Prep sprinter Tom Long went 11.40 and 22.90 to win the 100 and 200. Teammate Bill Ference took both the middle distance races, the 800 in 1:58.90 and the 1600 in 4:29.10.
