Rosa Twins Dash Through Belmont (PA), 'Bosco Sweeps Regis Invite (NY) Matt Shatkus Sep 20, 2009

PHILADELPHIA PA - The Rosa twins, sensational juniors from West Windsor-Plainsboro North had a spectacular Saturday going 1-2 on a notoriously tough course (Belmont Plateau).  Coming into the meet the course record was set by Joe Rosa last year running 15:33.1.  Joe crossed the finised line this year knocking another 14 seconds off the course record clocking 15:19.3.  Not surprising by no means was Joe's twin brother Jim Rosa finishing not far behind brother Joe for a fantastic 1-2 finish.  Jim finished in 15:38.0.  Along with the Rosa's, teammates Jon Saveri (6th 16:16.8), Casey Dalrymple (14th 16:54.2) and Pat O'Connell (40th 18:04.2) finished with a tallied score of 63 to top the Philadelphia native LaSalle College HS.

Just In Time... Matt Shatkus Aug 29, 2009

-Now that September is just about here, I thought it was a good time to set aside some time to update all of the XC lists/records.  All class records, team lists and individual course lists for Holmdel Park, Ocean County Park, and Van Cortlandt Park have been updated. You can find them on the NJRunners XC Records page.  As always please email me (mshatkus@milesplit.us) if there is anything that I missed and needs updating and I will make the change as warranted.

Some other good news for viewers of NJRunners.  Last season we implemented a change that allowed everyone to sort the rankings (of each season) by conference.  Well the bad thing last season was you had to remember the names of the conferences in NJ to be able to sort by them.  Well that has changed.  You know have a dropdown on the Rankings menu called "League".  League is a dropdown that not only allows you to sort by Conference, but also by "Group" and "Section" so that you may see who the competition is in Groups 1-4, Non Public A and B and also all Sections from North Jersey I and II all the way down to South Jersey and as usual you can still sort by each of the 21 counties in NJ

Now with that said, lets get the XC season started.

Plainsboro North Makes History Matt Shatkus Jun 23, 2009

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Saturday night there was one thing left for New Jersey, the distance medley.  West Windsor-Plainsboro North (WWPN) had one thing on their mind, to break a 26 year old record set back in 1983 at the Penn Relays when Willingboro and Bernards both crossed the line in 10:00.9.  Since that record was set Colts Neck in 2007 has gotten the closest running 10:04.15.  Could West Windsor-Plainsboro North do it?...

Egg Harbor Day 1 Postponed / Continues Saturday Matt Shatkus May 30, 2009

Egg Harbor Twp -
State Group championships @ Egg Harbor Twp high school were postponed due to inclement weather Fiday night.  They  will resume Saturday morning at 10am.  Before the meet was cancelled a few events were completed.  The boys G4 400h was first onto the track, without the presence of Isaiah Gill (Plainfield) in the race, Tim Carey (Washington Twp) ran away with the victory in 52.10 and a new New Jersey #1 / US #2.  Washington Twp also saw good fortune in the boys 1600m.  Xavier Fraction (pictured) eased his way to victory running 4:16.x.  The race was without National Record holder, Robby Andrews who decided to only run the 800m on Saturday.  Directly after the group 4 1600m run were the 100m dash trials, where Clayton Parros (Seton Hall Prep) dominated the entire field (including Non-Pub B, and group 4) running 10.63.  It is not known whether Parros will now run the finals of the 100m, since they will now be contested on Saturday along with the 400m, 200m, and possibly the 4x400m, where Parros and company are among the states leaders in each.
NJRunners is on site to bring you the extended Saturday meet coverage.
Other highlights fron Friday include:
*Ugonna Ndu (Union) lowers her own US#1 400h time to 59.36
*Tylia Gillon (Jackson Memorial) running the fastest qualifier in the group 4 100m in 12.16.
*Dominique Booker (Imm Conception) running the fastest qualifier in the Non-Pub B running 12.03, a new meet record.
*Jill Smith (Southern Regional) cruised to victory in the 1600m for the 2nd consecutive year running 4:55.x

Shore Record Highlights Day Matt Shatkus May 10, 2009

NEPTUNE-
Michael Peavey toed the line during the prelims of the 100 meters ready to blast something good.  He got out of the blocks and safely down the straightaway running 10.75, just off the meet record set 1 year ago (10.72).  Peavey was easily the clear favorite heading into the finals.  The only question was will the meet record go down for the third consecutive year.
