The quartet of Brene Donaldson, Kori Carter, Tre'Breh Scott-McKoy, and Lauryn Freeman cemented their place in history as one of the best 4x2 dynasties ever this past Sunday at NBNI. This team came and won the 4x200m relay by almost two seconds with their 1:37.94 winning time.
The Ballard sisters and their teammates had quite the weekend at the Armory. They tallied up three national titles and numerous all-American finishes.

The team of Wells, Hassle, Hunter, and Affolder came back on Saturday after their DMR win and broke the 4xMile national record with their 17:01.81 finish.
The team of Ballard, Ballard, Tilmon, and Shockley not only won the shuttle hurdle relay but broke 30 seconds and set a new national record.
The Oscar Smith Tigers successfully defended their shuttle hurdle relay national title and improved to rank inside the top ten all-time.
Team VA had quite the opening day at the New York City Armory. We saw Virginia athletes and relays tally up six victories, set a national record, have multiple All-American finishes, and set some All-Time VA bests.
John Handley senior Taylor Beard used all her attempts and not only finished an All-American 4th place but also cleared 5-11 to move her second all-time in Virginia.
The Vikings of Loudoun Valley came back with vengeance this year and opened up their meet with a win and 9:54 national record in the DMR.

Heading into New Balance Nationals there are quite a few athletes looking to move up on the all-time list. Even though the the 300 and 500 lists are not on the list of events there are still many other opportunities for this list to change. Especially in the relays.
Winning the most improved and breakout star of the season award is Maury's Junyce Hasberry. She wins this award thanks to her monstrous improvement in the 55m dash which led her to a victory in the 55m dash.
Entering NCAA competition she sits at NCAA #2 and World #6 in the 400 with her 52.09 best.
Here we try and analyze which events can predict success in the multis at nationals by looking at the top five scorers in the previous two New Balance Nationals.
Only the top few athletes make it to NCAA's and despite that Virginia has quite a few athletes entered in competition. This includes Grant Holloway as the favorite in two events and multiple others who are near the top of the list as well.
While at Florida Grant has won 4 national titles, two team titles, and scored 56 individual points at the indoor and outdoor national championships. Not to forget he also anchored Florida's 4x4 in 43.89.
Per usual Team Virginia is sending quite a few athletes up to the Armory to compete in NSAF's New Balance Nationals. In this group of VA athletes are over 30 potential national champions. On the following pages we highlight those athletes and relays who could seriously come home with a national title this year.
Voting is now open until the 7th of March for who had the best state meet performance from one of the six state meets this past month. You can vote as many times as you want and the winner will have a feature story and be able to takeover the MileStat snapchat for Indoor Nationals.
Being a true mid-distance star is not easy and there aren't a lot of them. What we mean by this is someone who is a true 800/1600 athlete and not a 400/800 or 1600/3200 athlete. Here though we feature three athlete in Virginia who really fit this mold and despite being good at many events, they are really pure mid-distance runners.
Here are the Virginia athlete entries for New Balance Indoor Nationals as of February 27th. Entries are now in the "late" period meaning they are still accepting entries but with a severe late fee. We expect some more VA athletes and teams to enter and will update when we here more.
Here are the outdoor state standards that were revised the final week of February. Because of weather, Class 1-4 has the same standards as 2018 while Classes 5/6 are based on the normal math (8th place averaged out over the past six years).
The spring meeting for the Virginia Track Coaches Association will be held at Western Albemarle High School on March 17 at 2:00 PM.
