Distance is a tough one this year. I'm going with... Dohner Lutz Brinkley Adams Hoddapp/Cousins, they are both deserving.

I know the 5A kids (Lutz, Dohner, and Stinson) have put on a show at Texas Relays and the State meet and Cousins and Hoddap have also done well but I also wanna see some love for the 4A and 3A kids that have run fast....Anthowiak, Tesfai, Doherty, Christianson, Lacy, Singh.
dontre wilson freshman overlooked at desoto taking second in district in the 100m
Huh? He got something like 15th at regionals. This is ALL-STATE we're talking about here. The guys getting honorable mention have mid-10.xx and 48.xx PRs.

Difficult to do this. I tried it with girl's distance. The fact that very few of the top 800m runners were really good in another distance event makes for a difficult comaprison to girls who excelled at the 1600/3200. Here is how I would vote and my rationale (rankings based on TxRunning rankings as of today): 1st team: Chelsey S. (State's top times in the 1600/3200-no brainer) Rachel Johnson (Ditto execpt 2nd) Amanda Russell (Ditto except 3rd) Kim Kirby (4th in the 3200/6th in the 1600/24th in the 800, late season illness probably robbed her of her peak performance) Aliessa Hyde(pure 800 runner but the first team should include the state's best in each discipline) 2nd team: Alyssa Diaz (5 in the 3200/10 in the 1600 plus the 4A double at state) Catie Daigre (4 in the 1600/10 in the 800) Regan Tindell (6 in the 3200/7 in the 1600) Emily Dunn (6 in the 1600/27 in the 3200 + does not get pushed like the others who compete in 4A/5A at regionals and state) Jania Graham (2nd in the 800 has to count for something) 3rd team: Cali Roper (7 in the 3200/19 in 1600) Ashley Isham (8 in the 3200/20 in 1600) Hillary Montgomery (9 in the 3200/12 in the 1600) Katie Ruhala (17th in both the 3200/1600 + the 3A double) Zahri Jackson (9th in the 1600 and 15th in the 800) Honorable Mention: Katie Jensen (16 in 3200/14 in 1600) Meredith Gamble (15 in the 1600/16 in the 800) Emily Koening (14 in the 3200/64 in the 1600 but the 2a double) Bryanni Thompson (4 in the 800 and 13 in the 400. I know the 400 is not distance but she should get credit for two events just like the other two event girls (800/1600 or 1600/3200)) Jessica Harper (20 in the 3200/21 in the 1600) Hard to leave out: Janessa Dunn (19 in the 3200/24 in the 1600) Nina Herrera (8 in the 1600) Sophie Blake (11 in the 1600/28 in the 800) Margo Lyons (15 in 3200/40 in the 1600) Mackenzie Neal (13 in the 1600/42 in the 800) Bree Schraeder (16 in the 1600) Sara Sutherland (18 in the 1600/30 in the 3200) Kylie Cullinan (3rd in the 800) Sha/Reave Tyson (5th in the 800) Karlee Kleiber (10 in the 3200/44 in the 1600) Kelsey Miller (6th in 800) Jessica Whitt (7th in the 800) Grace Williamson (8th in the 800) Hillary Hagan (9th in the 800/4a State Champ) Diamond Dixon (12th in the 800/1st in the 400: unlike Thompson I figured she should get credit for the 800 in sprinter consideration as opposed to getting 400 consideration in the distance section under the theory that they qualify in their best event). Lots of deserving athletes out there.

Here is how I would vote and my rationale (rankings based on TxRunning rankings as of today):

1st team:
Chelsey S. (State's top times in the 1600/3200-no brainer)
Rachel Johnson (Ditto execpt 2nd)
Amanda Russell (Ditto except 3rd)
Kim Kirby (4th in the 3200/6th in the 1600/24th in the 800, late season illness probably robbed her of her peak performance)
Aliessa Hyde(pure 800 runner but the first team should include the state's best in each discipline)

2nd team:
Alyssa Diaz (5 in the 3200/10 in the 1600 plus the 4A double at state)
Catie Daigre (4 in the 1600/10 in the 800)
Regan Tindell (6 in the 3200/7 in the 1600)
Emily Dunn (6 in the 1600/27 in the 3200 + does not get pushed like the others who compete in 4A/5A at regionals and state)
Jania Graham (2nd in the 800 has to count for something)

3rd team:
Cali Roper (7 in the 3200/19 in 1600)
Ashley Isham (8 in the 3200/20 in 1600)
Hillary Montgomery (9 in the 3200/12 in the 1600)
Katie Ruhala (17th in both the 3200/1600 + the 3A double)
Zahri Jackson (9th in the 1600 and 15th in the 800)

Honorable Mention:
Katie Jensen (16 in 3200/14 in 1600)
Meredith Gamble (15 in the 1600/16 in the 800)
Emily Koening (14 in the 3200/64 in the 1600 but the 2a double)

Jessica Harper (20 in the 3200/21 in the 1600)

Hard to leave out:

Janessa Dunn (19 in the 3200/24 in the 1600)
Nina Herrera (8 in the 1600)
Sophie Blake (11 in the 1600/28 in the 800)
Margo Lyons (15 in 3200/40 in the 1600)
Mackenzie Neal (13 in the 1600/42 in the 800)
Bree Schraeder (16 in the 1600)
Sara Sutherland (18 in the 1600/30 in the 3200)
Kylie Cullinan (3rd in the 800)
Sha/Reave Tyson (5th in the 800)
Karlee Kleiber (10 in the 3200/44 in the 1600)
Kelsey Miller (6th in 800)
Jessica Whitt (7th in the 800)
Grace Williamson (8th in the 800)
Hillary Hagan (9th in the 800/4a State Champ)
Diamond Dixon (12th in the 800/1st in the 400: unlike Thompson I figured she should get credit for the 800 in sprinter consideration as opposed to getting 400 consideration in the distance section under the theory that they qualify in their best event).

IMO y'all are reaching down too low out of good, but misguided intentions. I sympathize, but its getting out of hand. My primary criteria is who ran the best when it counted most, i.e. at State. That should trump PR's or SB's. My only sympathetic nod would go to seniors over underclassmen as a tie-breaker. Also, anyone who didn't finish the season shouldn't make any list. I'd say anyone who double-medaled (especially, but not necessarily, Gold)at State are deserving of 2nd team at worst, regardless of classification as seniors, such as the 1A girl double Gold. Just my two cents.

Seems tough for a 2A kid to make it against 4A/5a kids. However, we won state in 2A- Kayla Brewer 4x200 relay state silver, 4x400 state gold, bronze hj regionals, and bronze 100m regs she is a freshman. Callie Padgett 2:24 800m finished 4th @ regs had the best time but was tripped and face planted in first 200m at regs, 4x200 relay silver at state, 4x400 gold at state 56.9 anchor leg(UIL split)

Distance - 800M Nominate Gavin Davis Soph Magnolia West High 4a. Two time district champ. Second in Regionals, 4th in state. Also District champ in 400M. Missed training time early in season because of a surgery, still charged back on to the scene and scored over 120 points for his team this season.
