Meet Information
High School Invitational hosted by McKeesport, and sponsored by P3R, Keep Pittsburgh Running.
Limited number of schools for 2020, depending on the number of entries, in order to stay under Allegheny County limits. Only coaches are permitted at the meet. No parents or spectators.
COVID Safety Procedures:
All runners and coaches must wear a mask and stay 6 feet or more apart from one another at all times, except while competing in their race. Runners can also remove their mask for their warmup run and immediately before their race. Warmup for the Girls will start after the Boys Race is completed.
There will be Designated Team Areas, marked with numbers at locations on the Baseball Field, and the River Park. All runners must bring their own water.
Only 2 runners will be allowed in front row per team. All Coaches must stay in a designated Coaches Box.
Location: Boston Trail section of the Yough River Trail, Soccer Field, Under the Boston Bridge, between Versailles Boro and Elizabeth Township. Address: 1902 Donner Street, McKeesport, PA 15135
Date and Time: Friday, October 9th, 2020, Coaches Meeting at 2:00pm near the Pavilion. Boys Varsity Race is at 2:30pm. Girls Varsity Race will start at approximately 3:30pm. No JV Race this year.
Race Entries: Enter your runners into their races on pa.milesplit.com. Look for River Trail Invitational on their Race Calendar. Contact me at mbacco@mckasd.net for the entry password.
Course: Flat out and back 5K on gravel trail and grass. Spikes are permitted.
Individual Awards: Top 25 finishers in the Boys and Girls Varsity races receive medals.
Team Scoring: The scoring system will combine the Boys and Girls Varsity results into one team score to determine an overall Champion. The top 25 finishers in each race will count towards the overall total. The first place finisher in each race will score 25 points for their school. Second place will score 24 points. Third place will score 23, and so on. The final team score will be the total amount of points each school earns from both races combined. The team with the highest amount of points wins the River Trail Cup for that year.
Team Awards: The overall winning school receives the River Trail Cup until the following years event. The winning Boys team and the winning Girls team in the Varsity races will each receive a plaque.
Results: Team and Individual results will be posted on the Miles for Smiles website at smileymiles.com, and on the PennTrackXCs website at pa.milesplit.com.
Entry Fees: $125.00 per school. $25.00 per individual on teams with less than 5 runners. Checks are to be made payable to McKeesport Tigers Cross Country.
