WEEK #1: Ernesto hit, but it wasn\'t a knockout. This is cross country... so runners prevailed at most meets. The Viking Invitational at Tamanend Park moved the schedule ahead and combined races and got it all in... being rewarded with one course record. In the rain Saturday, US#4 Coatesville cruised to an easy win with just 16 points. Unfortunately, three others cancelled.
They\'re always there at the end of the season. Despite bumps, major or minor, you can pretty much count on Allentown Central Catholic to be ready for the post-season. They are, and they advance, along with the Easton girls. In boys AAA, it\'s Parkland and Liberty. And in AA, it was Alexa Griffiths and Isaac Dunkelberger leading their Tamaqua teams to District 11 titles.
The Tamaqua\'s have it. Once again, Alexa Griffiths and Isaac Dunkelberger won the Schuylkill League Championships at the Tuscarora State Park 3-mile layout. Actually, it\'s a three-peat for the pair... and next year would be a high school sweep.
Tamaqua athletes secured the individual titles, with the boys capturing the team championship as well as Isaac Dunkleberger obliterated the course record. His teammate Alexa Griffiths took control of her race shortly before the mile.
