AA Girls: We haven't seen much of Neumann Goretti's Sydni Townsend this season...until this past week. The defending AA state champ at 200 and 400 meters returned for the first time this season at PCLs on May 14. Then Townsend made her presence known at the District 12 meet in Philadelphia. She won both the 200 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles, and immediately has made herself a threat for next week's state meet at Ship.

Townsend (24.68) nipped Paul Robeson's Jameela Muhammad (24.72) in a close 200-meter race.

Neumann Goretti's Janese Lynch won both the discus and shot put. Lynch threw 133-8 for the discus win, and 43-2.5 in the shot put, a PA#5.

AA Boys: Delaware Valley Charter's Jahmair Craig doesn't always long jump, but when he does, it's usually pretty far. Craig, in just his second attempt at the event this season, went PA#3 in the long jump with a leap of 23-1, making him part of the select few PA athletes to have eclipsed the 23 foot barrier.

Neumann Goretti's Kamil Jihad won a nice battle in the 800 with Masterman's Joseph Previdi. Jihad ran a 1:55.25 (PA AA #3) and Previdi ran 1:56.49 (PA AA #7).

Imhotep's Ade Jones-Roundtree won the 200 meters and tied Christopher Dock's Austin Kratz for the top AA time in the state in the event. Jones-Roundtree ran a wind-aided 21.74 for the D12 victory.

AAA RESULTS

AAA Girls: Olivia Arizin of Cardinal O'Hara continues to prove her fitness, running a PA#1 in the 800 and clocking a 2:08.59 for the win. We've said it often before, but the 800 at states will surely be the premiere race of the meet and Arizin looks like she'll certainly be one of the favorites. O'Hara's Christine Mancini took second in 2:18.98.

Speaking of Mancini's, Grace and Elizabeth Mancini went 1-2 in the 1600, which was a really close race. Grace took the win in 5:08.31 and Elizabeth was second in 5:08.62. Lansdale Catholic's Kayla Connelly was third in 5:09.06.

Archbishop Carroll's Carly Peters won a close battle in the javelin, throwing 124-1 for the win over teammate Emily McCann and Ryan's Megan Kirn.

O'Hara's Schola Eburuoh edged out Ryan's Kel-Lisa Sebwe in a close 400 meter race. Eburuoh clocked a 57.75 for the win and Sebwe was second in 57.95.

In yet another close race, Bonner-Prendie's Alaina Johnson was a narrow winner over Ryan's Taylor Woods in the 300 hurdles. For Johnson, that's over a half second improvement from her time in the event at PCLs.

AAA Boys: The 800 proved to be one of the day's most exciting races. It was Bonner-Prendie's David Whitfield who came out on top, winning in a very fast time of 1:53.38 over St. Joe's Prep's Stephen McClellan, who ran a 1:53.79 for second. O'Hara's Justin Jones (1:55.71) and Roman Catholic's Luke Doughty (1:56.72) also ran quick times for third and fourth respectively.

There were some fast relays, too. LaSalle took the win in the 4x100 in 42.19 and the 4x800 in 8:02.42, capping off a nice meet for the Pioneers. In the 4x400, Martin Luther King got the best of St. Joe's Prep and Cardinal O'Hara. MLK clocked a 3:19.83, making them a team to watch at next week's state meet.

In the 400, St. Joe's Prep sophomore Miles Green kept up his stellar season, winning the 400 in 48.80. MLK's Tyreek Mathis took second in 49.47.

LaSalle picked up wins in the 100 and 200. Charles Headen was the 100 winner in a time of 10.96 and Winston Eubanks took the 200 in 22.05.

LaSalle's Frank Livolsi out-dueled the Cardinal O'Hara duo of Rob Morro and Ryan James in the 3200. Livolsi lowered his PR to 9:25.57 to grab the win. Morro took second in 9:31.60 and James was third in 9:34.39.
