There perhaps no bigger meet in the United States each year, outside of the Olympic Trials or US Championships, than the Penn Relays. At the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field in Philadelphia, we had a front row seat to some dazzling performances by some of PA's top athletes on one of the grandest stages!

The girls' of PA gave a great start to the action on the Penn Relays' opening day, Thursday. Four girls won field events to start things off in a big way. South Williamsport's Katie Jones won the pole vault, Tyrone's Erika Voyzey won the high jump, Mount Carmel's Maura Fiamoncini won the javelin throw, and State College's Veronika Karpenko was the triple jump champ. On day two, the boys followed up the girls with some amazing efforts as well. Knoch's Jordan Geist won his second straight title in the boys' shot put. He broke his own state record (at the time) with a throw of 73-0.75, which also set the junior class national record. In the boys' javelin, Stroudsburg's Michael Marsack took second and threw what ended up being the PA#1 through the end of the season. Marsack's 213-7 was second to South Carolina's Liam Christensen. Josh Hoey gave an incredible effort in the mile to score an upset win over a loaded field. Hoey, a Downingtown West sophomore, ran 4:11 to take the win. On the final day, State College's Griffin Thompson was dominant in the pole vault. Thompson, who would go on to take the state championship cleared 15-7 to win by over a foot. Read the full day three recap HERE.
