D2-A Boys Team Preseason Rankings

There were two big changes to D2-A headed into this season. The first, which I wrote about with some length in the girls' preview, is the elimination of one of the state qualifying spots for teams from this classification. That means that just one team will head to Hershey from D2-A.

The second is the move of Montrose from AA to A. Montrose was a near state team last year in AA and they return all seven making them a heavy favorite to win Single-A this year.

The changes are not good news for Elk Lake, which has won the last two District 2 team titles and may be on the outside looking in this year. They were champs by 36 points last year and return four runners from last year's team. Cody Oswald was third at districts last year. He returns for his junior season, and along with Seth Owens and Brett Carney, they'll look to win their third straight against a tough Montrose team.

Montrose is led by Zach Mead and Owen Brewer (above). Those two are entering what could be a very big senior year. Brewer, however, did not make states last year, so he's surely ready to go for his final season. Brandon Curley, Jerome Washo and Liam mead will be key pieces for them this season.
