Independent Schools - Boys | Germantown Friends strong again
Boys' Independent Schools Preseason Team Rankings
Germantown Friends' got the redemption it was looking for at the Independent Schools state meet last season.
Now the Tigers will go for a second straight state title with a team that returns five of seven from last year. Nick Dahl leads the way for GFS after winning by over 30 seconds last year. The senior will look to close his final prep season out on a high note with an individual title and a team title.
GFS loses #2 guy Grayson Hepp and #5 guy Gordon Goldstein from last year's squad, but still returns a nice contingent after Dahl. Zach Goldberg, Daniel Stassen, Colin Riley, and Jonnie Plass make up the returning five. They'll be favored to take another state crown this time around at Belmont Plateau.
Episcopal Academy might put up the biggest fight to GFS. Jakob Jorgensen leads EA. He enters his senior year after taking fourth last year at states. Mercersburg Academy loses Gabriel Allgayer from last year, but they should be competitive after placing fourth as a team last year. The other squads will scramble for depth as Germantown Friends' looks to grab another state crown.
