Leagues Friday Rundown: Few surprises on a warm day at SOLs

Girls' SOL National Conference Championship

RESULTS

You may have counted out Pennsbury this season.

But the Falcons, who have won five of the last six PIAA Class-AAA state championships, proved that you'd be mistaken for doing that. Pennsbury, behind a win from Mary Webb, took home the SOL National Conference, fending off surprise second place Neshaminy, as well as Council Rock South and Council Rock North.

Webb, who had a hamstring injury that kept her out for most of last spring and the beginning of this XC season, returned in her first non-dual meet appearance of the year on Friday and took the win in 19:29. Despite a wrong turn a little after the mile, she got back on track and claimed the victory. Watch Webb's post-race interview below:

Abington's Kelly Jawork continued her strong senior season, placing second in 19:37. Pennsbury's Chloe Connor was third and CR South freshman Marissa Kilgarriff was fourth.

Getting back to the state meet again will be a tough task for the Pennsbury girls, but Friday was a step in the right direction for sure.
