Jordan Geist Breaks PA State Record Again With 73-10: SPIRE Showcase Recap

Tori McKinley of Hickory kept up her great senior campaign on Sunday at SPIRE. McKinley threw 46-4 for second place in a very competitive girls' shot put. Ohio's Nicole Berry threw 47-6.5 to take the win.

Hickory also had a big day int he 400 meters. Heather Grober was 17th in 58.97, while Morgan Donatelli placed 18th in 58.98.

North Allegheny's Melina Owens asserted herself as a medal contender with a huge race in the 60-meter hurdles. Owens ran 8.86 in the prelims of the event, a new PA#4. She then ran 8.90 in the finals to take third overall. 

In the 800 meters, South Fayette's Rachel Helbling posted a big effort, taking 13th in a time of 2:18.86. That's good enough for a PA#9. Greensburg Salem's Malia Anderson was 18th in 2:20.51.

Greensburg Salem's Moira O'Shea put down a monster race in the 1600 meters. The senior ran a PA#3 of 5:06.86 for the huge PR, taking 11th overall in the race. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic's Rylee Kopchak was 16th in 5:10.91 and Oakland Catholic's Lauren Finikiotis was 17th in 5:14.71. In the 3200, Vincentian Academy's Marianna Abdalah placed seventh in a time of 11:01.28, and North Hills' Ava Pietryzk was 13th in a time of 11:29.51.

South Fayette's Coutney Phoennik had a busy day in the field at SPIRE. Phoennik was second in the triple jump (36-4.5), fourth in the high jump (5-1), and eighth in the long jump (16-10)
