The Southern Fulton girls returned to the top of District 5 last season, winning its fourth district title in five years. Southern Fulton scored 20 points for the win and booked another trip to Hershey, after missing out on the state meet in 2015.
Freshman Elizabeth Flaherty stepped in as the new team leader to pace SF at districts and then the state meet. Southern Fulton will have to replace four graduated seniors from last year, however, if it wants a repeat performance.
Johnstown Christian, the champions in 2015, will be looking to make it back to states as a team this year. Lorna Speigle a rising junior, was the leader of this team last year and will be called upon this year to lead the way.
Expect a close battle between Southern Fulton and Johnstown Christian this year for that lone state qualifying spot in District 5 Class A.
