Team Breakdown: PIAA District 4 Girls

D4-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

Danville Area knows a little something about retooling.

The team has won eight straight District 4 titles and you can't do that without a little "next girl up" mentality. Only this year, Danville won't have to worry so much about the "retooling" with six of its seven runners from last year's team, which took second in the state.

Rising juniors Elaina Klinger and Marisa Maffei will lead the way for Danville, which will be favored to win its ninth straight District 4 title and possibly contend for a state crown in Hershey. Klinger and Maffei were 13th and 15th at states last year, respectively. The next group of runners---made up of Rainey Oldfield, Julia Resele, Nikaela Haas, and Emma Mikita---will make up a strong pack as well. Danville should definitely figure into the state conversation this fall, and it has the potential to be on top of the medal stand come November in AA.

Mifflinburg missed out on the state meet last fall, but it also has a goo group of returners that could make another run at Hershey this fall. Jillian Miller and Audrey Macpherson were both in the top 10 at districts last year and qualified for states.

Selinsgrove made the state meet as a team last year behind the strong legs of Ashley Blair and Brittany Carnathan, but both have graduated. It will need to find some replacements to contend for a Hershey spot again this fall. Lewisburg Area (fourth in '16 in D4) also graduated some strong seniors, but should factor in to the team battle this fall. Milton Area is a young team with tons of potential to creep into the two two.
