D6-A Boys - Individuals Breakdown

Penns Valley Area's Chris Colwell will be aiming for his second straight District 6 Class A crown after taking the win last season. He was second as a junior. Colwell also earned a state medal, placing 21st in Hershey. He just keeps getting better and he'll look to close out his career with another district title and another spot on the podium at states.

Colwell likely benefited from the emergence of Mark Bierly, who turned into a very strong runner last season. Bierly wasn't far behind him at districts and then took 31st at states. Those two have formed a strong leading group for a solid Penns Valley team.

Someone who could spoil the party up is Andrew Stanley of Southern Huntingdon. Stanley was third to the PVA duo last season, and ended up 36th at states. But Stanley took his game to a whole different level on the track. he was runner up in the district in both the 1600 and 3200 meters. He took fourth in Class AA in the 3200 meters at states, running 9:29.

Purchase Line's Micah Kurka and Penns Valley Area's Sam Gray were fifth and sixth respectively and both will be looking for high finishes at districts again. Marion Center's Hunter Armstrong was 11th last year as just a freshman, so it will be interesting to see his development into his sophomore year.

Don't forget about Homer Center's Sam Cunkelman, a rising senior, who won the district title as a sophomore, but took 13th last fall. Let's see this year if Cunkelman can return to his 2015 form.
