Individuals Breakdown: District 4 Boys

D7-AA Boys - Individuals Breakdown

At last year's District 4 Championships, the prohibitive pre-race favorite, Isaac Davis of Jersey Shore Area, had a rare off day, and in one of the week's biggest upsets, Loyalsock's Quinn Serfass pulled out the victory.

Prior to that race, Davis had been undefeated on the season, claiming four invitational wins. He got redemption at the PIAA State Championships a week later, though, placing third overall leaving him as AA's top returner if you take out graduated seniors. Davis, now a senior, will look to return to the top of District 4 (he won as a sophomore), but he'll also be one of the state's top threats to take home the gold in Hershey.

Serfass, although he was the "upset winner" at districts last fall, is a strong runner is his own right. He tallied some strong performances leading up to his district win and took tenth place at states. On the track this spring, he ran 9:30 for 3200 meters to take sixth in the state in AA. Another district title and high states finish isn't out of the question, so watch for Serfass this fall.

There's also Milton Area's Tyler Leeser. He was second to Serfass in D4 and then 11th, just a place behind Serfass again, at states. He dropped a massive PR of 4:16 outdoor states on the track in the 1,600 meters to add to his 1:55 800 meter PR. He deserves in the conversation with those top two and this matchup could make for one of the best come late October.

Leeser's Milton teammate Seth Kendall was fourth in the district and hopes to be an individual factor as well as a strong team piece this season. Another Milton runner---Kellan Guinn-Bailey---should be up in the top ten again this season. Loyalsock's Ryan Sullivan is another one to keep an eye on after a seventh place finish at the district meet. Mifflinburg's Quenton Long is another state qualifier from 2016 that returns this season.
