Individuals Breakdown: District 2 Girls

D2-AAA Girls - Individuals Breakdown

Katie Dammer had no issues with the adjustment from AA to AAA last season. After taking seventh in the state in AA as a sophomore, her Abington Heights team made the move to AAA for her junior year. Despite that, Dammer still improved on her states finish, taking sixth place.

Dammer just keeps getting better. She elaborated on some on her summer journeys for us in her PTXC Journal, but now she's ready to start what should be a big senior season. In the spring, Dammer took second in the state in the 1,600 meters, dropping a sick time of 4:48.51. Look for Dammer to be a serious factor in the state this season, as she looks to close out her prep XC career on a high note.

While Dammer is the overwhelming favorite for the district title, a number of others will be in the mix for strong seasons. Wallenpaupack's Sam Killiany was fourth in the district last season and will look to lead her team again. The Hazleton duo of Ariana Stranko and Steph Yanochko will also be on the hunt for top five spots in the district.
