Girls' Triple Jump Preview
Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley will look to add indoor gold to her resume in the triple jump after taking outdoor gold in AAA outdoors last spring. Warren has had a great season in the triple that has included jumping 39 feet or better on seven different occasions. That consistency is worth noting at a state meet, where you have one day to be on your best game. Her season best of 40-3.75 sits at PA#1.
But the reigning state champion Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin put down a clutch jump of 40-4.5 at indoor states last year to capture a late win. She sits at PA#2 with a season best of 38-2.5, but Langley-Walker is no stranger to the big stage. The future Oklahoma Sooner will be worth watching.
Another one we can't forget about is Breana Gambrell of Athens Area. Though she's probably more of a long jump specialist, Gambrell did win an outdoor AA triple jump state title last spring. She jumped 38-2.5 earlier in the season and no doubt has the ability to compete for a win here.
Two girls enter with season bests in the 37 feet range. Milton Hershey's Rebecca Tarnve (PA#4; 14th in 2017), Saint Basil freshman Jayla Bernard (PA#5), and Forest Hills' Zoe Roush (PA#6) are among the other medal hopefuls. Penn Cambria's Lauren Michina was 12th at indoor states last year and will look to get in amongst the medal winners this year.
