Bradford Area will look to win its second District 9 Class AA title in the fall. It loses top runner and three-time district champion Logan Caruso, but back are five boys from last year's squad that took 17th at states.
Tyler Kraft (third at districts), Vinnie Bizzarro, and Gabe Mitchell, among others are back this fall for a Bradford squad looking to win the district and grab the lone state qualifying spot again this season.
Bradford should see a very good challenge from Punxsutawney Area. Punxsy was just ten points off the win a year ago, and the squad's full varsity team is back this season. Owen Bartlebaugh was second to Caruso at districts last year and Corbin Heitzenrater was fourth. Both are rising juniors.
Clearfield Area will also look to get in the mix with Bradford and Punxsy. Just five points off Punxsy at the district meet, Clearfield brings back its top four boys from 2017. Harry McMillen, Isaac Swanson, and Jeremiah Vezza will be a talented lead pack for this team.
There's just one spot allotted to District 9-AA and three teams with a very good shot at the win and a trip to Hershey. Expect this one to be down to the wire this fall.
