Team Breakdown: PAISAA Girls & Boys

PAISAA Girls - Team Breakdown

Expect a close team race for the team title in the PAISAA this season. Germantown Academy comes in as the defending champions, winning by 12 points in 2017. Isabelle Goldstein (second place in '17), one of the individual favorites will lead the way for GA. Gianna Murgia was eighth last season and also returns. GA will look for some improvements on the backend of varsity for a shot at repeating atop the PAISAA.

Penn Charter, third in 2017, may be the team to beat this fall. They earned the distinction as our preseason No. 1, returning its full varsity squad from last season. The reigning individual champ, Emma Zwall, is back for her sophomore season after a big ninth grade season. Penn Charter's 2-5 girls, led by Abigail Zwall and Mary McDavid, packed up last year and will look to move up in the field this season.

Friends' Central was second last season. Rebecca Wusinich (fourth in '17) and Lydia Russell (sixth in '17) are back for their junior seasons, and make for a strong top two up front. Germantown Friends, with last year's breakthrough eighth grader Annika Marcelius, was fourth last year and will look to get in the conversation for the win.

Episcopal Academy and The Hill School are among the other teams to watch this fall in what will be an interesting PAISAA Championship race.
