Individuals Breakdown: PAISAA Girls & Boys

PAISAA Girls - Individuals Breakdown

The PAISAA saw a great race for the top spot last fall, as Emma Zwall from Penn Charter ultimately pulled away for the win, capping off a great freshman campaign. She also earned wins at William Tennent and Inter-Ac. Now a sophomore, Zwall looks for independent schools title No. 2, though she'll surely be challenged by a trio of returners.

Isabelle Goldstein of Germantown Academy took second to Zwall last season at both Inter-Acs and PAISAAs. Goldstein will look to grab the top spot this season after an impressive spring that saw her run 4:55 in the 1,600 and 11:09 in the 3,200.

Third at PAISAAs last season was Annika Marcelis of Germantown Friends, who burst onto the scene as an eighth grader winning the Friends League title and then earning bronze at PAISAAs. She enters her ninth grade season as a serious factor in the independents.

Rebecca Wusinich of Friends' Central is another surefire contender. She was fourth at PAISAAs last season after winning the George School Invite and taking second in the Friends League earlier in the season. Wusinich was had a great summer that saw her win the AAU national title in the 3K, running 910:20. She'll look to convert that into a big junior season on the XC trails.

Other girls back from the top ten in the PAISAA last year: Lydia Russell of Friends' Central (sixth), Caitlin Jorgensen of Episcopal Academy (seventh), Gianna Murgia of Germantown Academy (eighth), Sanaiya Watts of Agnes Irwin (ninth), and Jilliana McEntee of Episcopal Academy (tenth).
